BUILD: External casing made of plastic, inner chassis/frame made of metal however. I would have preferred better build quality for the price.DESIGN: Functional design, adding/removing/replacing HDD is fairly easy. Has a fan built it which kicks in when needed. Between the two HDD lies a mini computer which controls the entire setup.USER INTERFACE: UI is definitely not as cool as Google Drive or One Drive but does the job. Features such as task manager, hardware monitor there as well.USABILITY: Easy to setup, can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Three lights, in front. One for power & two for HDD. Advantage is that you can directly connect your portable HDD to myCloud and take backup. Downside is that even to do so, you need to have you myCloud connected to a network, or perhaps I am missing something. Take note of this before buying.

I did a year long research and had also tried those cheap docks. Lost my data using cheap products and finally decided to use this. There are loads of online reviews of this product. In short, my reason to choose it.- low price- I had hard drives already- more stable (configure and forget) than synology- super silent compared to competitors- EXT file system for RAID (can be read independently on PC in case I need to)2020 Update: Still working as intended. I’ve literary not touched or had to tinker with anything in past years.

Very Poor Design and Interface. …. NAS Resets to factory default itself after Power Failure.. Data Get wiped..Bad Experience for me having used QNAP / Emc2 / Synology / ASustor… I think WD has ventured into chartered waters with this product…. .. They are way behind the Likes of Synology… QNAP etc..
