Nice product to ignite your coal early. I have just received it and not tried. The manual says to use ignition blocks below but i am going to try keeping it on gas stove directly. Not a very strong item(made in china ofcourse) but you get what you pay for.Update 1Tried it today and it worked nicely, just make sure to use only big normal coal pieces else it will fall down. Just used it directly on stove and coal was ready in 15 minutes which is great as it used to take me an hour on barbecue box directly. Keep a big pold plate while carrying it hot.

Bottom plate to keep coal is high…Does not work on gas.Removed 4 rivetts, made new holes below and tightened with 4 screws.Great. Works well now !!2 star less as (a) manufacturer should put bottom plate at correct position. (b) rusting started…paint burnt by heat… Should have been made of white metal sheet that doesnt rust. But is useful to light coal in 5 min without wood, paper, oil and is convenient.Must have along with a barbeque.

I used to fire up coal without Fire starter chimney, how ever , this has greatly increased the speed at which the coal can be brought to the temperature. The paint will rip off and product will rust , but that’s something I was mentally prepared because I didn’t expect something great at this price.Be careful when you lift with red hot coal. Use heat resistant gloves or pour ample water in handle area and then lift . Don’t burn fingers and palm. This applies to any make and brand.Just used it once and it’s a perfect fit for firing up with some twigs and paper at the bottom. Or use a coconut shell with some cooking oil and some waste cloth and use it under the chimney. In 10 to 15 minutes, you get super hot coal.Update. Have used the product around 10 times and still going strong. Howver I feel the rivet may give up. Will just use a small screw and nut to hold the base plate in place when the rivet gives up.
